Preventive Foot Care Overview
At the National Foot Care Program (NFCP), we believe foot and ankle care is a
very important part of your overall health. By identifying foot and ankle
problems early, you can often prevent pain, surgery, and major disability. Our
program focuses on preventing foot care problems. When problems occur, NFCP is
committed to providing the highest level of quality care.
Your NFCP Affiliated Practitioner
NFCP provides qualified Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) for all of your
foot and ankle needs. These practitioners are part of a multidisciplinary team
which works with other health care professionals to ensure you receive quality
care.
What Is a Podiatrist?
A podiatrist is a specialist trained to diagnose and treat foot and ankle
problems. Podiatrists are specialists who undergo intensive education and
training relating to the medical and surgical care of the foot and ankle
through years of study and clinical practice. This includes a bachelor's degree
and four years of podiatric medical school. The educational process of a
podiatrist continues with hospital residency training for up to three years.
Through continuing education, podiatrists remain up-to-date on the latest
podiatric medicine and surgical practices.
We believe foot and ankle care is very important, and a very special part of your
health care. The National Foot Care Program (NFCP) focuses on preventing foot care
problems, when possible. When they can’t be prevented, we are committed to
providing care that is most appropriate to your situation.
