National Foot Care Program, Inc (NFCP) is the first and largest foot and ankle managed care preferred provider organization in the country with over sixteen years operating experience.

Foot and ankle care is usually integrated into the total health care bill where the price of treatment is not always apparent. Yet, once those costs are isolated, foot and ankle care procedures typically account for up to 5% to 7% of all health care costs. These costs may be even higher depending on the age of the work force and the nature of their work.

The challenge is actually two-fold:
  • How to isolate the actual costs of foot and ankle care.
  • How to reduce those costs while continuing to provide quality benefits.

NFCP BRINGS SCIENCE TO THE ART OF MEDICINE

National Foot Care Program has developed special techniques superior at managing care in an area most benefit programs overlook. NFCP features a unique approach to utilization review, monitoring over 200 foot care diagnostic and treatment procedures using scientifically-based clinical guidelines that assess medical necessity.

THE NFCP APPROACH

Scientifically Based Utilization Management Procedures NFCP uses scientifically developed guidelines which cover diagnosis and treatment. Our Quality Management and Improvement Program Committees provide prospective, concurrent, and retrospective review of the delivery of general care, surgeries, and orthotics based on extensive medical programs and standards of care. We have designed informative podiatric utilization reports - and we help interpret the data to target improvements in care and reductions in costs. We coordinate these reports with insurance carriers to help integrate and manage overall healthcare managment.

Carefully Screened Preferred Provider Panels
NFCP has established a national network of affiliated providers, approved hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to support its various programs. These providers are carefully screened for credentials, education, practice patterns, malpractice history, and hospital and specialty affiliation before we contract with them to ensure they meet our stringent requirements and deliver appropriate, quality care at a reasonable cost. Providers are strategically located nationwide to be convenient for our members.

Quality Improvement and Management Program
Assuring the appropriate quality care, the best customer service, and the proper cost controls are performed on a continuous basis. NFCP Quality Improvement and Management Programs, which help to manage foot care costs, are unique and exceed national standards of care.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION / FINANCING
